Head of Music

An exciting opportunity to lead an extremely successful, high-profile department in an over-subscribed 13-18 upper school, committed to offering an outstanding comprehensive education to all students. The department is highly regarded in the school and beyond, playing a key role in our rich extra-curricular offer and working closely with our partner middle schools as well as delivering consistently high quality music through the curriculum. We pride ourselves on offering a great balance of classical and popular music. The department is housed in our specialist performing arts block with its own office and a suite of purpose built music facilities.

Support staff

Freman College believes that the contribution of all staff is equally important in creating the successful and dynamic school that we have become. We welcome applications from professional and ambitious staff who are committed to excellence for both themselves and the students who are, after all, at the heart of what we do.

There are many opportunities for staff at Freman both academically and through the extra-curricular life of the college. A significant percentage of support staff have taken further qualifications whilst employed by the college. These have included Certificate of School Business Management, Diploma in School Business Management, Certificate in School Administration, HLTA, First Aid at Work; and we have recently trained several members of staff in braille.

Alongside the academic there are many opportunities to become involved in the wider life of the college. Choir, band, orchestra, refereeing, coaching, trips to the theatre, plays, costume and prop making, overseas trips, Minecraft and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme are just a few examples of ways in which many staff choose to get involved. The way in which students, teaching and support colleagues work together both in and beyond the classroom is part of what makes the college such a rewarding place to be.

Freman College has a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the DBS.

Graduate Interns

We are looking for enthusiastic, hard-working graduates who really enjoy the company of young people to join us in September for a paid internship. You do not have to be considering a career in schools to apply to work with us. These roles will enable the successful applicants to develop their skills in many broad areas including working as part of a team, working independently and showing initiative and communication skills. This post particularly lends itself to ex-students of the college but this is not essential.
