How to apply

The college participates in the Local Authority (Hertfordshire County Council) coordinated scheme and Hertfordshire residents should apply on-line to the Local Authority at: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/admissions between 01 September 2026 and 31 October 2026. The number of places for entry to Freman College in September 2027 is 210. Applications made after the deadline of 31 October 2026 will be classed as late and get lowest priority.

Applicants who live outside of Hertfordshire should make an upper transfer application to their home local authority.

Essex residents:

Please apply online via the Essex Education Portal - Sign in. If you are unable to apply online, you can use the secondary school admissions application form (PDF, 119.18KB). Completed forms should be sent to admissions@essex.gov.uk The School Admissions Team at Essex County Council can also be contacted on: 0345 603 2200.

Parents are welcome to arrange a tour during the college day and to meet a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Please contact the college office on: 01763 271818 or email: admin@freman.org.uk.

Freman College administers its own in-year admissions. Application forms can be accessed in the downloads table below or from the college office on 01763 271818. Parents should return the application form direct to Freman College (address on the form).

Once we receive your application we will check it against our admission arrangements, to determine the criteria your application will be considered under. This will determine your position on the continuing interest list. We will inform you of the outcome of your in-year application in writing (via email) within 10-15 working days.

The college may admit students in accordance with HCC’s Fair Access Protocol and if it does so, such students will be admitted ahead of those of the college's continuing interest list.
