Students in Freman College Sixth Form make progress “well above national” levels, according to the Government’s Schools Comparison website. In Summer 2024, the Progress Score for Freman College Sixth Form students was +0.39. This was the 3rd highest score recorded for any of Hertfordshire’s 124 schools and colleges with sixth form provision, and placed us in the top 10% nationally.

This progress score means that students at Freman College Sixth Form are achieving higher grades than students at other sixth forms who started with the same GCSE scores.

The average grade achieved in our A Level courses in 2024 was B.

The average grade achieved in our Cambridge Technical courses in 2024 was Distinction.

The full breakdown of grades achieved can be seen on the graphs below.

Our student retention figures are very high compared to national, with 94% of students who start with us in Year 12 completing their courses in Year 13 (2019-24 data).

Students who enter Sixth Form without a Grade 4 in GCSE Maths or English are supported through small-group tuition to prepare for resit opportunities.

Students value the care that is taken to provide them with a broad range of leadership roles. They proudly wear their prefect badges and enjoy the opportunities to work with students from Years 9 to 11. Students are acutely aware of their responsibilities as the oldest students in the college.
