Airbus rocket science workshop inspires year 13 physicists

Our year 13 physicists took part in a workshop with former student Dan English and his colleague, Robert Baldwin, from Airbus. Students used real data to calculate escape velocities and volumes of fuel needed to launch rockets. Students learned about different propulsion systems (chemical vs electrical), and took part in an activity to work out the most efficient way to organise fuel in a propulsion system. The content had cross-curricular links to Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Our Year 12 physicists will also be making a trip to Airbus during Science Week in March.
