Classics Department Visit to the Bay of Naples 2025

Bay of Naples 2025

This academic year’s Classics Trip will take place between 7 and 11 April 2025. The visit will be based in the Bay of Naples and will focus on a thorough exploration of the area. We will be visiting the atmospheric remains of the cities buried by Mount Vesuvius’ eruption in AD 79, and all the works of art from those cities that are now housed in the National Museum in Naples. We’ll also have the opportunity of visiting Mount Vesuvius itself. A trip to the beautiful island of Capri will round off the visit.

There will be a parents’ meeting to discuss issues about the trip closer to the time of departure.

Accommodation will be based on 4 students sharing a room in a 3* hotel near Sorrento, on a half board basis (breakfast & evening meal at the hotel).

The total price is £850 which will include the following:

· Return flights to Naples with one check-in bag.

· Return coach transfers from Naples airport to hotel.

· Half-board accommodation in Sorrento.

· Full day coach to Herculaneum and Vesuvius.

· Entrance to Vesuvius.

· Full day coach to Pompeii.

· Visits to Pompeii and Herculaneum.

· Trip to Capri, subject to good weather. If the weather is bad, then an alternative trip will be arranged.

What is NOT included:

Lunches, extra food/snacks, drinks (other than water) and souvenirs: students should bring about £100 spending money in euros to cover all of this.

Your son/daughter will need a valid passport with at least 7 months between the expiry date and the date of the trip. The first deposit of £200 will be payable as soon as a place has been offered, with payment to be made by School Gateway. Once the trip has been booked all payments will be non-refundable.
