Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award

Expeditions

To achieve the Bronze Award, other than the expedition, students need to complete three sections: volunteering, skills and physical. For each of those sections they need to spend one hour a week for a length of 3 months, with one section of their choice extended to six months. The expedition section (when they go camping for a weekend in groups) is the best-known section, and it is the one for which we train and prepare them in College. However, they cannot achieve their Award if they don’t complete all the sections, and this is their responsibility, although your help and support is very important too. The cost of the Award is £90, of which £34 covers enrolment with DofE and £56 covers the cost of the practice and assessed expeditions.

Once enrolled, students should start these sections, so that, by 14 February 2025 the two 3-month sections should be completed. This will qualify them to start training for the expedition.

The training weekend for the expedition will take place on 10-11 May 2025 and the assessed expedition weekend will take place on 7-8 June, both must be attended otherwise the Award cannot be achieved.
