An exciting opportunity is available for students studying French or History at GCSE. We are planning a visit to the battlefields of Belgium and northern France from the 12th June 2025. For history students, the visit will link in with our GCSE unit on Surgery and Medical Treatment in the First World War. French students will also have opportunities to practise their language skills for the new GCSE.

We will leave College early morning on Thursday 12th June and will be returning to College on Saturday 14th June 2025 in the evening. Travel will be by coach and ferry; the coach and driver will accompany us throughout the visit. The cost will be £430, although this may change depending on how many students come on the trip.

It will include:

· Executive coach with seat belts, W.C., air conditioning, DVD player

· Return channel crossings by Ferry - NOT including any meals.

· Full board accommodation including packed lunches (excludes packed lunch on first day and evening meal on last day)

· Fully comprehensive insurance cover

· Road Tolls

· Entrance fees for visits

It should be mentioned at the outset that a lot of walking will be expected from the students (and staff!) and students should consider this when deciding whether to apply for a place on this trip.

If you wish to apply for a place on this trip, please complete this form by Sunday 30th June.

If more students apply than there are places available then selection will take place by means of a lottery. All places are subject to approval by the Heads of House and the Headteacher. Priority will be given to students currently studying both French and History at GCSE.

Once a place has been awarded on the trip, there will be a deposit payable by Friday 12th July of £75. All payments are non-refundable.

The balance of £355 will be paid in six instalments:-

31st August £60

30th Sep £60

31st Oct £60

31st Jan £60

28th Feb £60

31st Mar £55

If you would like to discuss arrangements further, please do not hesitate to contact Miss Robertshaw (teacher of History) or Mrs Smith (teacher of French).
