Freman exam results amongst best in Hertfordshire
You may have noticed that last week the Department for Education published information about the performance of all state secondary schools. The performance table for Hertfordshire can be found here: https://www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk/schools-by-type?step=default&table=schools®ion=919&geographic=la&for=secondary&tab=map&page=2
Once again, Freman College has achieved a very high Progress 8 score, which puts us amongst the highest performing schools in the county. Confusingly the DfE categorise us differently to other schools because we are an Upper School, which means that our very high score of 0.44 appears in a separate section at the bottom of the table, even though our score is calculated in exactly the same way as other schools!
To see just how well our students have done it is necessary to look on page one of the table where the higher-performing schools are. Notice that many of the schools with a score that is even higher than ours are schools that select their students in some way and are not mixed-sex, comprehensive schools like Freman.
It is very unusual for schools to achieve excellent progress at Key Stage 4 (Year 11) and also Key Stage 5 (Sixth Form) so we are very proud to have done this in 2019. You may like to compare the performance of our Sixth Form with other local schools here:
Although we congratulated the students who achieved these amazing results at the time, it is lovely to be able to say well done to them again. I hope they feel very proud of this public recognition for their fantastic achievements last summer.
